Netscape Communicator

• If you are successfully connecting to USFamily.Net already, you may download the latest Netscape Communicator free from http://www.netscape.com

• The CD works for Win3.1 or Win95.  Mac users please request a Mac CD.

Win95 - Using the Internet Connection Wizard from the CD

• If you are on Win95 but can't find the Internet connection wizard described in the setup instructions then:
• Insert the CD
• Click Browse
• Click on the ICW folder
• Click on setup
• The wizard should start, follow your brochure instructions then proceed to the next step below for just Netscape.

Win95 - Loading Just Netscape Communicator

• If you can already connect to the Internet using the Window 95 Internet connection wizard dialer do not load the Netscape Dialer just:
• Insert the CD
• Click Browse
• Click on cp32e405.exe - this is the same as the normal Internet download of Netscape version 4.05.  If you see an even newer version on the CD then click  that one.
• Once online go to http://www.usfamily.net
• Click Register Online
• Fill out the form

Win 3.1 - Loading Netscape Communicator and Dialer from CD for USFamily.Net

• Insert the CD
• If the CD doesn't start running automatically, click File (or Start on Win 95)
  Click Run
  Enter D:setup.exe    (change D: to your CD drive letter)
• Click Install Communicator
• Press return about 6 or 7 times
  (this will select all the defaults and load Netscape communicator.  You may get an error about multimedia, this is ok).
• Select No you don't want to read the Readme file.
• Reboot your computer when prompted to do so.
• Communicator is loaded

Setting up an account for USFamily.Net

• To find the new Netscape communicator program group
  on Win95 - Click start, programs, Netscape communicator
  on Win3.1 - Click the Netscape group on your desktop
• Select Account setup
• click Start
• Follow the screen instructions screen by screen.
• When complete click Done. (do not click connect now)

Logging on to USFamily.Net

• Find the new Netscape communicator program group
  on Win95 - Click start, programs, Netscape communicator
  on Win3.1 - Click the Netscape group on your desktop
• Select Netscape Communicator
• The Netscape Communicator browser will begin to appear but then a Connect Box will appear
• Click connect, your modem will dial
• The USFamily.Net website will appear or go to http://www.usfamily.net
• Click Register Online
• Fill out the form

Welcome to the Internet.

• If you choose to keep the CD and your account will be charged $14.95
• Otherwise please return in the envelope supplied.

CD Problem.

• Some people encounter a mail setup problem where a wizard asks for a news server and won't accept any answer.
• Go to Netscape Communicator Utilities and use the user profile  manager to create a profile.
