Macintosh System 8 or System 7.6.1 Setup

The update from System 7.6 to System 7.6.1 and upgrades to Open Transport 1.1.2 are available for free download at the Apple Software Archive.  Please check the info button in the TCP/IP control panel to see if you are running OT 1.1.2 or later. If you are not, upgrade before installation.

• Open the Apple menu
• click Controls Panel
• click Modem
• select the modem on your system that you wish to use
• (if you cannot select this then you must reinstall OT/PPP)

• Open the Apple menu
• click Controls Panel
• click TCP/IP
• set Using PPP server
• enter DNS of 207.225.145.55 and 207.225.145.251

• Open the Apple menu
• click Controls Panel
• click PPP (or remote access on the newest systems)
• enter your permanent usf-xxx-xx userid (this is permanent and not associated with e-mail)
• enter your permanent password for the dialer (this is permanent and not associated with e-mail)
  do not enter any spaces before or after any field.
• set the save password button
• enter our phone number 651-393-2600
• click options

• select the protocol tab
• make sure connect to a command-line host is not checked
• click ok

• Click OK.  You are finished setting your mac for dialup.

• click connect to try connecting

• When you get online you still need to register at our website or your trial will end in a couple days.
